Cosmogony (EN)
In the words of founder Marie-Cécile-Zinsou, the Zinsou art collection, originating from Benin, was developed to “have African countries actively involved in the creation of their own art and to exhibit it for a local audience”.
The title ‘cosmogony’ refers to the study of the creation of the cosmos. This concept leads to several themes in the exhibition f.i; ‘Alphabet and Codes’,’ Identity and Memory’, ‘Life As it Comes’.
Kosmogonie (NL)
De Zinsou kunstcollectie, afkomstig uit Benin, is in de woorden van oprichter Marie-Cécile Zinsou ontwikkeld vanuit de wens om ‘Afrikaanse landen actief betrokken te laten zijn in de totstandkoming van een eigen kunst en dit voor een lokaal publiek te exposeren’. De snelle ontwikkeling hiervan heeft ervoor gezorgd dat de verbeeldingskracht en de bijbehorende hedendaagse kunstuitingen steeds meer zichtbaarheid krijgen op het wereldtoneel. De Erkenning geeft ruimte aan een nieuwe generatie kunstenaars die op innovatieve wijze een synthese weten te vinden tussen traditie en globalisatie.
De titel “Kosmogonie”verwijst naar de leer van de schepping van de kosmos, een concept dat is uitgewerkt in verschillende thema’s als: Alfabet en codes, Identiteit en geheugen, Het leven zoals het komt.
